Umuhimu kupata usingizi wa kutosha

Mambo yanayozushwa kuhusu usingizi yanaharibu afya zetu na hali zetu, pia kufupisha maisha yetu, wanasema watafiti.
Watafiti katika Chuo kikuu New York walitafiti kuhusu suala la usingizi.
Kisha kisayansi wakatafutia ushahidi. Wana matumaini kuwa tabia ambazo tunaziona za kawaida na tunazoamini kuwa zitatusaidia kwa afya ya miili na akili ni imani tu.
Imani ya 1 - Unaweza kuwa sawa hata ukilala kwa muda wa chini ya saa tano

Lakini watafiti walisema kuamini kuwa kufunga macho kwa kipindi cha chini ya saa tano ni jambo zuri kwa afya, ni moja kati ya imani mbaya iliyo hatari kwa afya.
''Tuna ushahidi thabiti unaoonyesha kuwa kulala kwa muda wa saa tano au chini ya saa hizo,unaleta madhara mabaya, '' amesema mtafiti Dr Rebecca Robbins.
Hii inahusisha maradhi kama ya moyo, kiharusi, na kupungua kwa umri wa kuishi.
Badala yake, amesema kila mmoja azingatie kulala muda wa saa saba mpaka nane wakati wa usiku.
Imani ya 2 - Pombe kabla ya kulala itakufanya ulale usingizi mzuri
Kunywa pombe kabla ya kulala kwa kuamini utapata usingizi ni imani tu, iwe ni bilauri ya mvinyo,au pombe kali, au chupa ya bia.

''Inaweza kukusaidia kupata usingiz, lakini itapunguza hali ya utulivu wakati wa usiku,'' Dr Robbins ameeleza.
Faida ya usingizi hupotea kabisa.
Kilevi pia hufanya kuzalishwa kwa mkojo kwa haraka, hivyo unaweza kujikuta kila mara unaamka kati kati ya usiku kwenda kujisaidia.

Dokta Robbins: ''Mara nyingi kama tunatazama televisheni mara nyingi ni kuhusu taarifa za habari za usiku na tamthilia...Ni kitu ambacho kinaweza kusababisha maradhi ya kukosa usingizi au kukosa hali ya kutokua na utulivu wa akili.
Suala linalohusu televisheni -sambamba na simu za kisasa na tanakilishi-huwa zinatoa mwanga, ambao unaweza kuchelewesha kuzalishwa kwa homoni zinazosababisha usingizi.

Umetumia muda mrefu kupata usingizi na ukakodoa macho kwenye dari.

''Huchukua dakika takriban 15 kwa mtu mwenye afya njema kulala usingizi, lakini zaidi ya muda huo..hakikisha unatoka kitandani, badili mazingira na fanya kitu ambacho hakitakufanya utumie akili, kwa mfano kuweka nguo zako kabatini kwa kuzikunja.

Nani hajawahi kufikiri kuwa kuzima kengele ya simu, kwa kufikiri kuwa dakika 6 za nyongeza zinaweza kuleta tofauti?
Lakini timu ya watafiti inasema kengele ya simu inapoita, tunapaswa kuamka

Dokta Robbins anasema: ''Utakua na hali ya uchovu -sote hujisikia hivyo- lakini jizuie kuzima kengele inayokuamsha.
''Mwili wako utarudi tena kulala, lakini hautalala usingizi inavyopaswa''.
Badala yake unashauriwa kufungua mapazia ili kupata mwanga kadiri inavyowekana.
Imani ya 6 - hakuna madhara ya kukoroma wakati wote
Kukoroma kunaweza kusiwe na madhara, lakini kunaweza pia kuwa dalili ya ugonjwa wa kukosa pumzi kwa muda ukiwa usingizini.
Hii husababisha kuta za koo kujiachia na kujibana wakati uko usingizini, na kwa muda kunaweza kuwafanya watu washindwe kupumua.
Watu wenye tatizo hili wanaweza kuugua maradhi ya shinikizo la damu, na mapigo ya moyo kwenda kubadilika, kuwa na mshtuko wa moyo na kiharusi.
Tahadhari ichukuliwe iwapo utakoroma kwa sauti kubwa.
Dokta Robbins anamalizia kwa kusema: ''Usingizi ni moja kati ya mambo muhimu ya kuyapata usiku wa leo ili kuimarisha afya zetu, hali zetu na kwa ajili ya kuwa na maisha marefu.'

Mexico elects Claudia Sheinbaum as first woman president

Claudia Sheinbaum has been elected as Mexico's first woman president in an historic landslide win. Mexico's official electoral authority said preliminary results showed the 61-year-old former mayor of Mexico City winning between 58% and 60% of the vote in Sunday's election. That gives her a lead of almost 30 percentage points over her main rival, businesswoman Xóchitl Gálvez. Ms Sheinbaum will replace her mentor, outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, on 1 October. Ms Sheinbaum, a former energy scientist, has promised continuity, saying that she will continue to build on the "advances" made by Mr López Obrador.
